Las Fallas is a traditional festivity celebrated every March in the city of Valencia and other Valencian towns.
This celebration has its roots in ancient traditions of carpenters who, on the eve of the feast of St. Joseph, burned old junk and leftover wood. Over time, this custom evolved, and the “fallas” became large cardboard and wood sculptures depicting satirical scenes of everyday life, politics and culture.
The festival culminates in the “Nit de la Cremà”, where the fallas are burned in a spectacular series of bonfires. In addition to the fallas, the celebration includes music, contests and other cultural activities.
This festivity has been declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. It is an event full of colour, gunpowder, creativity and tradition that attracts thousands of visitors every year.
